San Fernando de Omoa Fortress

Tour the San Fernando Fortress,
built between 1746 and 1779 but left unfinished. It was designed to fight off the pirates plying the Caribbean waters. You will see the thick moss covered walls and dark and musty rooms, exposing the high humidity that kept the building from being finished. Also, visit the museum that explains the history of its construction and later use of the building, mainly as a prison, until 1959, when it became part of the country’s historical heritage. Next
